Established immediately after the war (1999), the Psychology has contributed greatly to establishing the profession of the psychologist in Kosovo. Offering a highly comparable curriculum of BA and MA studies with European universities, increasing the quality of research, participating in international projects, working with different institutions and communities in the country, responding in a timely fashion to different challenges the society faces, the Psychology is today one of the most respected academic units not only by the University of Prishtina. The Psychology offers two academic programs. The BA program provides sound knowledge and skills for the students in orienting them well in the field of psychology as well as soft skills to complete their academic profile. The MA program on School and Counseling Psychology prepares young psychologists to work in a school environment, by gaining expertise and acquiring the needed skills to make sense of difficult dynamics, context, problems, and trying to find the right solutions. The Psychology’s programs gets the highest number of applications at the Faculty of Philosophy being the first choice for the students not only compare to other psychology programs in the country but also compare to many other academic programs. The Psychology will continue to offer innovative teaching, and produce high-quality research. The Faculty of Philosophy will support the Psychology in its efforts to increase the collaboration with different societal stakeholders, and international partners as well as including students as much as it could in engaging students in research, community work, projects, and social activities. I believe the Psychology will continue to be an example of an organized, responsible, and excellent academic unit for many years to come.
